I have just met my Mr Wonderful. He’s been in the Navy about 5 years now and is going into BUD/S in April. It’s his dream to become a Seal and I’m willing to make the sacrifices needed to keep this relationship with this special guy. We haven’t been together long but we aren’t youngin’s.. 28 and 29 y/o. We know a good thing when we see it and have both agreed..THIS IS IT. We plan to get married but not so soon. I know it will be long distance for a while and I know it will be hard. Question is: Any women out there living this lifestyle Any women out there with the man they love as a Seal What am I to expect

My boyfriend is just about to graduate from BUD/S in about a week. He’s actually finishing third phase on San Clemente Island and I haven’t been able to talk to him AT ALL for 5 weeks. It’s been hard but sadly it becomes normal to have him gone. Really makes you appreciate just talking to him for 5 minutes. When he’s going through first and second phases it won’t be that bad since he’ll be able to call fairly often. He most likely won’t be able to talk for long except on the weekends but you really need to be understanding. Their bodies are absolutely pushed to the limit and they need as much rest as possible.
It’s a good idea to learn as much about BUD/S by watching videos and reading about it because he’ll be telling you what he did that day and it’ll be better for both of you if you can visualize what he’s describing. It frustrated my boyfriend whenever he would have to describe surf torture over and over because I kept forgetting what it was.
If you don’t have a webcam I recommend you both get one. Obviously I don’t know what it’ll be like once he becomes an actual SEAL but it’s our jobs to be strong for them.
Oh also he’s probably going to become very impatient after BUD/S. My guy said they do everything so fast over there that it drives him crazy to see people taking their sweet time.
